Charlottetown band Two Hours Traffic is releasing its latest effort, Territory, on Sept. 8. The new album is the follow up to the Charlottetown band’s Polaris Prize nominated and internationally acclaimed sophomore album Little Jabs.

Like Little Jabs, Territory is produced by Nova Scotia rocker Joel Plaskett.

The foursome was actually initially conceived as a two-piece, but soon lead singer Liam Corcoran and guitarist Alec O’Hanley recruited bassist Andrew MacDonald and drummer Derek Ellis. The band has released a handful of EPs and full-length albums, including 2007’s Jabs, which wound up on dozens of year-end best of lists, garnered the band an ECMA for Best Pop Recording and was a finalist for the coveted Polaris Music Prize.

In addition to announcing the launch of its new website, the band just announced its “Island to Island” 22-date tour with fellow Islanders The Danks.

Here are the bands’ east coast dates:

Sept. 11- Saint John, N.B. @ University of New Brunswick
Sept. 12 – Fredericton, N.B. @ St. Thomas University
Oct. 23 – Halifax, N.S. @ Coconut Grove (Halifax Pop Explosion)
Oct. 24 – Charlottetown, P.E.I. @ Hunters Alehouse

Andy Brown releases False Alarm

Fredericton’s Andy Brown, the 2008 CBC Galaxie Rising Star finalist, recently released his new album False Alarm.

“This album has been nothing short of a labour of love,” explained Brown of the two-year process in a press release. “I kept writing new and better songs and I put a lot of effort into creating exactly what I wanted.”

Produced by Brad Perry of Forward Music Group, Brown says the album has shown his growth and maturity as a songwriter and musician. Brown enlisted the talent of New Brunswick’s own famed cellist Tim Isaac to perform on the album. Also appearing are local musicians Chris Craig, Tyler McGee, Andy Cotter and Scott Sampson.

False Alarm is now available at all upcoming shows and on iTunes. Upcoming shows include:

Aug. 22 – Larlee Creek Hullaballoo – Perth Andover, N.B.
Aug. 23 – Sunseeker’s Ball – Chance Harbour, N.B.
Aug. 28 – Pepper’s Pub – Saint John, N.B.

D5R signs We, the Undersigned

I think I include Diminished Fifth Records in just about every post these days, but the label just doesn’t stop.

Recently, it signed New Brunswick’s We, The Undersigned, and the label will release the band’s debut full-length, Bleed the Constants, later this fall.

We, the Undersigned is the latest band to join the east coast metal label and will be in good company alongside the label’s newest additions, Black Moor, Thy Flesh Consumed and Uigg as well as existing label heavyweights like Iron Giant.
