Nova Scotia Music Week wrapped up this past weekend with an awards brunch and gala awards show, during which more than 240 Nova Scotian musical acts and industry professionals were recognized for their achievements in 2010. 45 winners were chosen by the membership to take home trophies from the largest Music Nova Scotia Music and Industry Awards to date.

The gala was hosted by comedian Steve Patterson and singer/songwriter Christina Martin, and featured performances by Wintersleep, Jordan Croucher (JRDN), The Cottars, The Stanfields, David Myles, Chelsea Nisbett, The Keats, Alert the Medic, HavanaFax, and local Yarmouth and Acadian Shores musicians from the Musique de la Baie program.

Amelia Curran topped the winners list by taking home Female Artist Recording of the Year, SOCAN Songwriter of the Year, and Album of the Year for her most recent release, Hunter, Hunter. New Artist/Group Recording of the Year was awarded to Three Sheet for In Circulation, Male Artist Recording of the Year went to David Myles for Turn Time Off, Wintersleep leaves with Group Artist Recording of the Year for New Inheritors, and Music Video/DVD of the Year went to Tanya Davis for her success with “How to Be Alone”.

At the 2010 Music and Industry Awards Brunch, hosted by Music Nova Scotia President Brian Doherty, delegates enjoyed performances from 2010 nominees Molly Thomason and Kim Dunn as 37 awards were distributed to artists and industry professionals.
