McCann releases new record

Less than a year after his debut solo release, Lullabies for Bloodshot Eyes, Great Big Sea’s Séan McCann returns with his follow up, Son of a Sailor, available Feb. 8. The official launch will take place aboard the Norwegian Dawn on the Caribbean Sea with a solo performance during the fourth annual Ships & Dip cruise.

Moncton band reunites this week

Moncton's 3WIDE reunites this week.

3WIDE, a Moncton-based band that played throughout the region for a few years before calling it quits in 2007, is reuniting this week with a show slated for The Manhattan on Friday night. The show will also feature Moncton bands Tempting Tragedy and Spiral Case. Admission is only $3. Doors open at 10 p.m.

Myles leads ECMA nominations

David Myles

New Brunswick native David Myles has earned five nominations for the 2011 East Coast Music Awards, leading the pack this year. Artist and industry award nominations were announced today at the Confederation Centre of the Arts for East Coast Music Week 2011 to be held April 13-17 in Charlottetown, P.E.I.

“Today’s announcements clearly demonstrate the incredible talent in this region and the dedication and hard work of our artists,” said Su Hutchinson, executive director of the East Coast Music Association. “Preparations are underway to celebrate our Industry’s best and brightest throughout ECMA Week 2011 in exciting new ways.”

Lovestorm releases video

Moncton duo Lovestorm has released a new video made by local filmmaker Scott Carson. It features live footage from Lovestorm’s recent Moncton performance at Galerie E Dans L’A, along with interviews.

Shivering Songs adds Lawrence, Myles

The Shivering Songs music festival, set to take place in Fredericton, Jan. 29-30, has added Grant Lawrence and David Myles to the lineup of artists.
